Scott does not take shortcuts or use gimmicks when he trains. There is no timetable. He starts with breakaway pen roping and only resting in the box. When the horse is ready he learns to work rope, then tie down, still just resting in the box. This gives the horse a solid foundation. Only when the horse is ready does Scott move on to making runs out of the box. As with any event, some horses take to roping quicker than others. Plan on your horse being in training between 2 and 3 months for a solid start.
